What began as an agricultural cooperative in 1940 has developed over the decades into a flagship company in the South African food industry: Langeberg Foods is now the largest producer of canned fruit and fruit purees in South Africa. With over 75 years of eventful company history, L&AF has constantly evolved – always with a focus on quality, sustainability and social responsibility.
Responsibility that goes beyond the horizon
As one of the most important employers in the Western Cape region, L&AF takes its social responsibility very seriously. Through targeted investments in education, infrastructure and social issues, the company not only supports its employees, but also the surrounding communities. The company’s own kindergarten is an important building block to relieve the burden on working mothers in particular. In addition, membership of the Sedex database underlines the company’s commitment to ethical and socially sustainable production.

Around 95% of the processed fruit comes from within a radius of just 150 kilometers – directly from the sun-drenched valleys of South Africa’s Western Cape. Peaches, apricots, pears and many other fruits ripen here under ideal climatic conditions. Their intense color, natural sweetness and excellent consistency make them a sought-after ingredient for both quality-conscious consumers and discerning gastronomy. Every fruit undergoes strict quality controls – from the field to delivery. Production is HACCP, IFS and BRC-certified and guarantees complete traceability for every single can.

With its Goldreef and Silverleaf brands, Langeberg & Ashton Foods is internationally renowned as a guarantor of premium quality. In addition, the company also produces customized own brands according to specific customer specifications – flexibly, reliably and in proven top quality.

TRANSAGENT has enjoyed a particularly long and successful partnership with L&AF. Shortly after our foundation, L&AF was our first brand supplier – and has been an important strategic partner ever since. Together, we were able to establish the Goldreef brand as a strong quality brand in the Austrian food retail sector. For around 50 years, numerous retailers and wholesalers have placed their trust in our agency and have their own-brand products bottled by L&AF.
